Optimus PrimeI get very disappointed when I hear about a movie that I think will be exciting only to find out it won’t be released in theatres until a year or more from now. For example, Transformers, set to open July 4, 2007. Yes, they are more than meets the eye but we won’t be meeting them for another year. The hype starts early for next year’s summer flicks as a not-so-young Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix goes up against the Battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. Will Transformers be the retro-blockbuster of next summer? Or, will the approaching adulthood wizard steal its glory? My vote goes to Optimus Prime and his Autobot friends. Other contenders for next summer’s top box office podium (though perhaps less dressed for success) include “Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer”, Pixar’s “Ratatouille”, “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “AVP 2″. Let the waiting begin…

Sounds like next summer will be a good one for movies, I’d watch all of them you listed there, but am looking forward to Transformers the most. Nostalgia is a big box office draw! Of course… nothing will beat Snakes On A Plane this summer… oh yeah….

    Yep, hype starts really early.

For pure money making, my bet is on Harry Potter but Transformers should be a close second.

I will be seeing them all, I’m sure.

P.S. There seems to be an issue with IE7 and Wordpress as every post you make scrunches down and is very hard to read.

Whoah…I have to look into that. Weird.

EDIT: Fixed the IE7 problem. There were IE6 fixes in the stylesheet that broke the site for IE7. It probably looks wonky in IE6 now but I do not have a copy to test it…

    You fixed it!!!

    And thanks for the bunny.

Transformers will do well, even with people getting annoyed over the long hype buildup, probably second like Chris said.

those are some funky faces you got in here…

er, that last post was me.

I agree that it will do well no matter how annoyed people (like me!) get about the far-too-long pre-release hype. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could expect it next month?

    Something to say?
